Sementeira is a gardening companion for the European home gardener: it tracks what you planted and when, plans what to grow where, diagnoses plant problems from a photo with biological-only remedies, and reminds you when something needs doing. It is built by Kebrabsoluta Unipessoal Lda, a Portuguese company.
Contact: geral@kebrabsoluta.pt — we aim to reply within a few working days.
Do I need an account? No. There is no sign-up, no login, and no password. Open the app and start adding plants.
Does it work without an internet connection? Yes, almost entirely. Your garden, your plans, your readings and your reminders all work offline. Two things need a connection: the weather forecast (used for frost warnings and for skipping watering when rain is coming), and the online plant diagnosis. If you diagnose a plant while offline, the app falls back to a model that runs on your phone.
Where is my data kept? On your phone, and nowhere else by default. There is no account, so there is no copy of your garden on our servers. If you lose or replace your phone without making a backup, that data is gone — see below.
How do I back up my garden? Settings → Back up my garden. That writes a file you can save wherever you keep your own backups. The same screen restores from one.
Camera — to photograph a plant for diagnosis, to read the screen of a soil probe so you don't have to type the numbers, and to place plants in AR. Photos stay on your phone unless you specifically ask for an online diagnosis.
Location — for local weather, frost warnings and working out how much sun a spot gets. Approximate location only, only while you are using the app, and only the coordinates are sent, to the weather service.
Bluetooth — to read soil sensors, if you own any. Entirely optional; the app works fully without one.
Motion — the sun-exposure scan needs the compass and motion sensors to know where the camera is pointing while you sweep it across your garden.
Notifications — reminders to water, feed, plant out and harvest. They are scheduled on your phone; nothing is sent from a server.
Do I need soil sensors? No. Sensors are a convenience for people who already own one. You can log soil readings by hand, photograph a probe's screen, or simply tell the app you watered.
My plant isn't in the list. Search first — the catalogue holds over a hundred species and often uses a different name than you would (try "squash", "courgette", "corn"; accents don't matter). If it genuinely isn't there, type the name and choose Add to my species to create your own. It behaves like any other plant, minus the growing advice we don't have for it.
Are the treatments safe for an organic garden? That is the point: the app only ever suggests biological and organic remedies, never synthetic pesticides. In languages other than English, treatment text is machine-translated and carries a warning until a horticulturist has reviewed that language — read it with that in mind, and check the plant before applying anything.
Is the diagnosis always right? No. It is a well-informed guess from a photograph, not a laboratory. Treat it as a starting point, especially before removing or treating a plant you value.
What languages does it speak? English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish and Ukrainian. Change it in Settings; the app switches immediately.
Email geral@kebrabsoluta.pt. What helps most:
If the app crashed, Settings keeps a short crash log you can share from the same screen — attaching it makes the problem far quicker to find.
Sementeira collects no personal data and has no accounts. For what is stored, what leaves your device and how to exercise your rights under the GDPR, see the Privacy Policy. The Terms of Service cover use of the app.
To delete everything the app holds, use Settings → Clear Local Data. It clears the whole garden from the phone and cannot be undone.
